RESEARCH POLICY
(revised & applicable w.e.f. the session July 2024)
FOREWORD:
Gyan Ganga Group of Institutions (GGGI) has been committed to becoming one of the top leading institutions in India and aims to achieve a better NIRF ranking in the near future. In the pursuit of excellence, GGGI is promoting active research in the institution and supports faculty and students in conducting research and consultancy activities. GGGI is committed to creating an atmosphere of research in the institution and provide necessary facilities for conducting active research.
OBJECTIVES:
The prime objective of providing incentives is to support and motivate faculty to carry out active research, development, and related activities. The scope of the policy is:
- To encourage active faculty engagement in research, writing, and development activities.
- To create an environment among the faculty to carry out interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research.
- To encourage faculty to submit project proposals and secure funded projects from funding agencies.
- To carry out consultancy for both government and non-government organizations.
- To foster creativity among students and faculty, encouraging them to design and develop innovative projects and products, publish, and secure granted patents.
- To encourage departments to Promote Research Excellence.
RESEARCH PROMOTION SCHEMES:
A. PUBLICATION IN JOURNALS:

B. PUBLICATION IN CONFERENCES:
| National / International Conference (Organized within country) | - Registration Fees (Max INR 10000) per conference paper
- Authors can claim incentives for a maximum of two papers in an academic year
- Subject to HoD / IQAC / Principal recommendations and Management approval.
- Priority is given to conferences indexed by recognized academic databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE Xplore, PubMed, ACM Digital Library, etc. ensuring high visibility and academic credibility.

| International Conference (Organized outside country) | - *Registration Fees (Max INR 30000) per conference paper
- Authors can claim points for a maximum of two papers in an academic year
- Subject to HoD / IQAC / Principal recommendations and Management approval.
- Priority is given to conferences indexed by recognized academic databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE Xplore, PubMed, ACM Digital Library, etc. ensuring high visibility and academic credibility.

| Remark: | - Authors are eligible to claim incentives only after the paper is published and indexed on the respective platform.
- *Faculty members whose papers are accepted at International Conferences are encouraged to apply for travel grants under various Government schemes, as and when available. Additionally, they may seek sponsorship from other funding agencies such as AICTE, UGC, or other relevant organizations.
- The student incentive claims can only be submitted through the mentor Faculty members during the 6-monthly call for published articles, as announced by the IQAC cell.

C. BOOK & CHAPTER PUBLICATION:
| Book Chapter | - Faculty who publishes book chapter with reputable Academic Publishers like Springer Nature, Elsevier, Wiley, Taylor & Francis, Oxford University, Cambridge University Press, Academic Press, Routledge, MIT Press, IEEE, McGraw Hill, IGI Global, etc.
- Faculty shall be Primary Author / Corresponding Author / Co-author and will be eligible for reimbursement of INR 2500. The Incentive will be shared if multiple authors exist from GGGI.
- Key Considerations for Publisher Selection will be based on Reputation and Peer Review, Indexing and Accessibility, Field-Specific Publishers & Open Access Options.

| Book | - Faculty who publishes books with reputable Academic Publishers like Springer Nature, Elsevier, Wiley, Taylor & Francis, Oxford University, Cambridge University Press, Routledge, MIT Press, IEEE, Mc. Graw Hill, Pearson, etc.
- The author will receive an incentive of INR 10,000. The Incentive will be shared if multiple authors exist from GGGI.
- The Research Committee will make the final decision on the honorarium and publisher.
- Key Considerations for Publisher Selection will be based on Reputation and Peer Review, Indexing and Accessibility, & Open Access Options.

D. PATENTS
| Patents: | - All National / International Patents arising from research and innovation within our institution must list GGITS/GGCT/GGCE Jabalpur as the First Applicant.
- Faculty members involved in the invention process will be recognized as inventors / coinventors / co applicants on these patents.
- Ownership - The Institute as the Primary applicant holds the legal rights to the patent once it is granted. This includes the right to exclude others from making, using, or selling the invention.
- An incentive of INR 10,000 will be provided for expenses related to filing, publishing, and granting patents.
- The incentives will be paid only for the granted patents & will be shared among the authors.

E. CONSULTANCY / FUNDED PROJECTS / OTHERS:
| Consultancy: | - It is expected that all faculty members actively engage in consultancy work to generate revenue for the institute.
- The consultancy amount generated reflects both the research capacity of the institute and the individuals involved.
- The revenue from consultancy will be shared in the ratio of 60:40 ratio between the Faculty and the Institute.

| Training Programs: | - Faculty who organizes the training programs for the external members and generate amount through the training program will be provided incentive.
- The amount generated through the training will be shared between the Institute and coordinators in the ratio 50:50.

| Funded Projects: | - Faculty will be provided an incentive of 5% of the total sanctioned grant.
|
| Product Development: | If any faculty develops a product and commercializes it with the institute name, he/she will be provided an incentive of Rs. 10000. |

Incentives or sponsorships will be approved based on the committee's recommendations. as by the Dean IQAC, Deans R&D, Principal(s) and Management.
RESEARCH ETHICS & INTEGRITY: Faculty members are expected to uphold the highest work of research ethics in all their publications. This includes ensuring the originality of their of and strictly avoiding plagiarism. Any form of copying, misrepresentation, or uncredited use plagiarism another's work is strictly prohibited. All research publications must undergo a thorough is mandatory.
REVISION & REVIEW: This Research Policy will be reviewed bi-annually by the Research Committee in consultation with the Management. The committee will assess the policy's effectiveness, considering emerging trends in research and development, institutional goals, and feedback from faculty and students. Any recommended changes or updates will be submitted to the Management for approval.
Publication and Research Award Incentive for Students
PREAMBLE:
The rapid growth in scientific knowledge is a key indicator of a quest for discovery, significantly impacting economic and societal development. Science, technology, and innovation are often initiated within a university's research environment, and this is also a core mission of Gyan Ganga Group of Institutions (GGGI).
Research and development activities create and disseminate new knowledge across various fields and promote innovation. These endeavours enhance learning and teaching among students and faculty members. Research forms the foundation of knowledge, enabling the creation of state-of- the-art laboratories, promoting research publications, fostering collaborations, and engaging the academic community in achieving institutional goals. With these aims in mind, the following guidelines for research incentives for students have been established.
OBJECTIVES:
- To inculcate and promote research aptitude among the students of GGGI
- To improve the quality and citation impact of student research publications.
- To encourage students to publish their research in reputed journals & conference proceedings that are indexed in Scopus or listed in the Journal Citation Report (JCR) by Clarivate Analytics..
APPLICABILITY:
- The incentive applies to journal publications that are indexed in Scopus or listed in the latest Journal Citation Report (JCR) by Clarivate Analyțics, published where the student is an author with GGITS/GGCT/GGCE affiliation.
- Student research articles, with GGITS/GGCT/GGCE affiliation, where the student is an author and currently enrolled, shall be considered for Publication and Research Award Incentive for Students
- Graduated students will be considered for this policy provided they publish their research article(s) with GGITS/GGCT/GGCE affiliation within one academic year of their program completion.
ELIGIBILITY:
- Full-time students enrolled in Undergraduate / Postgraduate program & having attendance 75% or more in the current year of study are eligible to apply under this scheme.
RESPONSIBILITY:
- The corresponding author shall take the responsibility to screen the paper for plagiarism, ethics approval and background checks about the potential, possible, or probable predatory scholarly open access journals before communicating the research publication.
- Paper published in discontinued Scopus journals or those not listed in the latest release of JCR at the time of communication shall not be considered for incentives.
- The names of student authors eligible for this policy will be recommended and endorsed by the Faculty / HoD to the IQAC/ Principal.
- IQAC shall intimate the departments about the students who are recipients of the incentives for further processing.
- Students who are recipients of this policy shall receive a certificate of appreciation from Head of the Institutional level.
- GGGI Jabalpur shall reserve the rights to revise the award incentive guidelines periodically.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Journals - Original research articles, review articles and full-length papers published in Scopus or JCR-listed journals (by Clarivate Analytics only) qualify for the award incentive as per the slab:

- Priority is given to conferences indexed by recognized academic databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE Xplore, PubMed, ACM Digital Library, etc. ensuring high visibility and academic credibility.
International Conference (Organized outside country) :
- Registration Fees (Max INR 10000) per conference paper with a compulsory Faculty Mentor from GGITS/GGCT/GGCE as the corresponding author.
- Authors can claim points for a maximum of two papers in an academic year
- Subject to HoD / IQAC / Principal recommendation and Management approval.
- Priority is given to conferences indexed by recognized academic databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE Xplore, PubMed, ACM Digital Library, etc. ensuring high visibility and academic credibility.
- *Faculty member (Mentor of the student paper) is encouraged to apply for travel grants under various Government schemes, as and when available. Additionally, they may seek sponsorship from other funding agencies such as AICTE, UGC, or other relevant organizations.
Patent :
For patents filed based on work conducted using institutional resources, including laboratories, facilities, and faculty guidance, the ownership of the granted patent shall reside with the institution.
In such cases, it is mandatory for a faculty member to be included in the patent filing process to ensure proper oversight and institutional involvement in the innovation.
